Thomas E. Starzl Transplant Surgery State of the Art: Alcohol-associated Liver Disease: Transplant Triumphs and Challenges
Liver Transplantation remains important in the management of patients with alcohol-associated liver disease that have liver decompensation or develop complications. This session will address some recent advances as well as challenges for this indication.

AASLD Postgraduate Course: Cirrhosis as a Multisystem Disorder Part 1: Epidemiology, Risk Factors, Diagnosis and Prognosis
Chronic liver disease and cirrhosis are leading causes of death in the United States. Although cirrhosis primarily affects the liver, portal hypertension and end-stage liver disease have much more pervasive effects on patient health.

AASLD Postgraduate Course: Cirrhosis as a Multisystem Disorder Part 2: Cross talk with the immune system and gut-brain axis
This session addresses complications of cirrhosis that may reflect immune dysfunction and host-microbial interactions. Cirrhosis is associated with dysbiosis which may contribute to encephalopathy and spontaneous infections.

AASLD Postgraduate Course: Cirrhosis as a Multisystem Disorder Part 3: Cross talk with cardiopulmonary and renal systems
This session focuses on circulatory changes that occur in cirrhosis, including the vascular pathophysiology and cardiac, renal, and pulmonary complications. In many patients, they culminate in multiorgan dysfunction requiring critical care.

AASLD Postgraduate Course: Cirrhosis as a Multisystem Disorder Part 4: Cirrhosis as a systemic disease: emerging insights and future directions
This session presents emerging and unmet needs in multisystem aspects of cirrhosis including concerns specific in women, end-of-life-care, and frailty.

AASLD / ILTS Transplant Course: Future Frontiers in Liver Transplantation Part 1: Cutting edge in Liver Transplantation
This course will discuss advances in basic, translational, and clinical progress in liver transplantation. This timely program explores the most recent data in machine perfusion, transplant oncology, and strategies to increase access and equity to help update hepatologists on the contemporary and next stages in liver transplantation.

AASLD / ASGE Endoscopy Course Part 1: Weight Management in cirrhosis and PRE-Transplant candidates: Medical vs Endobariatric vs surgical management

In this session novel endoscopic considerations will be reviewed for the pre-transplant cirrhotic patient including discussion of weight loss management, endoscopic management of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), the role of cancer screening and management of precancerous conditions in cirrhotic patients and finally novel endoscopic interventions and special considerations in patients with cirrhosis.

AASLD Practice Guidelines Workshop- What’s New
This session covers recently published data complemented by new guidance for clinical providers in recently finalized or published AASLD practice guidances. Learn about the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute chronic liver failure; portal hypertension and varices in cirrhosis; and procedures for the management of variceal hemorrhage.

Hepatology Associates Course Part 1: Hepatobiliary What ??

By identifying and minimizing disparities in liver transplants and chronic liver disease, this course expands knowledge and improves patient outcomes. The course will focus on underrepresented populations, specifically aiming to improve care and outcomes in the transgender population and discuss the unique needs in pediatric liver patients as they age and transition to young adults.

Hepatology Associates Course Part 2: Health Disparities in Underrepresented & Unique Populations

Improving Outcomes in Patients with Portal Hypertension and ACLF: Beyond the Guidelines Part 1: Portal Hypertension

The goal of this SIG session is to present new data that complements new guidelines for clinical providers in management. Specifically, regarding prevention of decompensated cirrhosis, predicting and treating complications of cirrhosis and finally managing complications of organ failures/acute on chronic liver failure. The session is a collaborative effort between the Portal Hypertension and Acute on Chronic Liver Failure SIG groups.

Hepatology Associates Course Part 2: Health Disparities in Underrepresented & Unique Populations

The goal of this SIG session is to present new data that complements new guidelines for clinical providers when managing prevention of decompensated cirrhosis, predicting and treating complications of cirrhosis and managing complications of organ failures/acute on chronic liver failure.

Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD): Global Variances and Therapeutic Approach
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a major growing global disease. This symposium will address the variations in prevalence, diagnostic methods, and therapeutic options as it relates to MASLD, in different parts of the world.

Clinical Practice Challenges
The session will review specific clinical practice challenges hepatology specialists may encounter, including optimizing cirrhotic patients for surgery, estimating MASLD fibrosis severity using non-invasive measures, determining the best time span to utilize beta blockers in patients with cirrhosis, exploring the utility of TIPS in non-classic circumstances and examining Fontan-associated liver disease.

Surgery & Liver Transplantation Workshop: Do we have a level playing field? Addressing inequity in access to liver transplantation

Overcoming Challenges in the Hepatitis C Care Cascade
Individuals with Hepatitis C virus are curable if they follow a simplified treatment algorithm of highly effective, short-duration direct-acting antiviral therapy. Nevertheless, less than half of people living with hepatitis C have been diagnosed and only a small fraction has been cured. The purpose of this SIG session is to teach the hepatitis C specialist practical solutions to overcome the remaining challenges in the hepatitis C care cascade, including how they can utilize the electronic medical record to implement solutions from a health systems level; how their expertise can be used for community-based approaches to hepatitis C screening and treatment; about new innovations in hepatitis C care; and the important counseling and monitoring of patients after their hepatitis C cure. Each speaker will share a summary slide addressing practical tips that participants can use in their own clinics and communities.

Hepatitis B: Optimizing Diagnosis and Management to Achieve Elimination
To meet the WHO’s goal of eliminating chronic hepatitis B by 2030, healthcare professionals, such as general practitioners and allied health professionals, must optimize the cascade of diagnosis and care. They play a key role in expanding treatment criteria, treating more patients, and simplifying treatment leading to HBV cure using new biomarkers. We will identify and explain the problems in HBV management from different healthcare.

Advances in the Management of Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) and Cholangiocarcinoma: A Global Perspective
Five 15-minute talks on the identified unmet needs in the management of PBC and PSC. Each speaker will review the current data on the topic and conclude with either a take-home point or recommendations for future research.
